Thanks

Thank you to all who in the past have shown an interest in my writing, who have left supportive and constructive comments. Currently, I am off-line; the negotiations of business taking precedent over the negotations of sentences and syllables. In the gaps, I read your blogs and see the dedication to your craft. Mostly though, I have greatly enjoyed the direct interaction with other poets and writers – and readers too, kindly passers-by who took the time to say a nice word or share a thought – all of which was new for me. In a short time, I have learned much. Thanks for reading…

Yay! Welcome back (sort-of when you can)! ;) It’s true you’re lucky to have a paying gig, but do scribble notes when you have time. (I hear those strange little notepad thingys are good for that.)

I predict your scribblings will transform into your best work yet…

Thanks for the vote of confidence Bryan! Writing really is a ‘use it or lose’ occupation isn’t it…and if you saw the quality of my hand-writing you would definitely refer to it as scribble… ;)

may I say, sometimes it’s not about the outcome of what we write, but how what we write impacts us. I find it transforming me everywhere I go…. I sometimes wonder if it’s just me… I find it to be a part of a journey to nowhere and everywhere all at the same time.
    Peace and care, cindy

    Hi, Darren,

I started working, lucky to find a job right now, and so I have been busy too. I have been trying to finish my graduate degree as well. This was going to be my last semester, but I had to drop a class. I miss blogging. I miss writing poetry. I know how you feel. I will keep checking up on you.
    Miss your work!

Hi Carolina, thanks for sharing. Our lives are different but seemingly we have run some parallels when it comes to writing…and congratulations on your new job. From the sound of things, you’re almost finished with your graduate work, the last stretch of any great task is the most challenging for me, so hang in there. Once that is done, a weight will be lifted and your prize all the more worth celebrating…what a gift for your children to see their mother’s accomplishment..then perhaps you will have some time to read, write and the words will come…best, Darren

Darren, is there a contradiction between what you call your day-gig and who you are or want to be? I ask because you seem to protect the influence the day-gig would have on how we perceive your work. Your work is really good. … Isn’t that funny … I’ve defined your work as what you do here and not necessarily what you do for a living. … another observation, you seem to be of a mind where you are collecting, collecting your thoughts, other people’s thoughts. I suspect that once these collections sort themselves out, you’ll find that you have a number of pieces all at once. I especially liked Trinity.

Thank you for your interest in my work Rachel. I wrote Trinity spontaneously and pretty much posted it in real-time, during the holiday break when a long-time friend posted a pic on FB he had took and then he gave me a writing challenge. No contradictions here necessarily, just conflicting demands competing for time which is limited of course. I’m in international business and attend meetings in rooms given names like ‘The War Room’. Language is everywhere if we’re awake to it. Best, Darern

I demand you come out of your celebrity-like retirement and grace us with at least a simple haiku to describe your life as late!

  10. April 22, 2009 at 5:33 pm

you are as busy as ever Bryan…good work…and it doesn’t happen unless you wake up with the intent and discipline to write! Haiku? Hmmm…could be dangerous…I tried it once and kept forgetting that haiku is so much more than 5-7 and 5 syllables arranged like so…thanks for checking in!

I don’t want to always agree with Bryan, but… really… one FREE FORM stanza! We’re not into rules here anyway!! :) cindy

Really – how right can you be Cindy? I mean, this is coming from the girl who made time to write during a flood/ flood rescue!

Ha! you have no idea!!! no one was more suprised than myself! What is time anyway??? This coming from a city that the the mayor made it a RULE you couldn’t work at night to get people to rest!!! : ) I love the northland!

Hey, hi and thanks Cindy and you too Bryan for checking in on me…it’s nice to know that if I were stuck in a snowy bank or trapped under a heavy object, there’d be people looking for me! (besides my family who have to!) best, Darren
